All About Water: Collaborating with Grade 2

Grade 2 teachers asked if the science department could collaborate on creating a day of examining water, so I volunteer, I couldn’t pass working with the little tykes from G2! In order to make the lesson reflective of PYP, here is what I planned for the day.

Thinker:Examine Water under Microscopes

  1. Examine water
  2. Microscopic Drawings
Inquiry: Which filter system is best?

 

Students will design a filter from three different materials (cotton, rocks, and sand) that turns muddy, salty water into drinkable water. They will have to determine which filter is best for obtaining drinking water.

The little critters were so inquisitive and of course absolutely wonderful. Collaboration between departments and sections is always an enjoyable affair. Memories below:
